Just had to post this picture

I found it on "Bunny ain't no kind of rider"'s Blog. She hasn't posted in ages, I actually found her site through the trot.org forum. She has much the same opinions I do about the medals in Dressage at the Olympics.
Talk about poetry in motion...
Piaffe, done by a master, softly, kindly, beautifully. Anyone recognize the rider?

Let me guess...

Dr. Reiner Klimke. The horse described as having the perfect piaffe.

GL.. This might be personal and you sure don't have to answer, but, would you own a horse if you could? Any reason you can't have one at the moment?

I have this big squishy OTTB who's a total star. Nobody can ruin this horse (if I haven't). Level headed as no other horse.

If we lived closer I would invite you to come ride him as often as you liked.

Take care my friend.

I wish you a Happy New Year. You need a Horse

Hi GL,

I love what your nephew said. So sweet and wisdom far beyond his years!

But I agree, horses are not something that is given up lightly. When I told my great aunt I'd sold my yellow horse, she couldn't believe it. But she recovered quick enough, and just said, Honey, it's in your blood, you'll have another.

And just look at me go now! Dealing with full blown founder and now parasites the size of small children. Good times I tell you, good times.

I hope that the stars align for you again to be a horse owner. A nice place in the country, all you need out your front door, perfect horse barn and pasture out your back...

Best wishes!

Hey Doc! Short answer. $$.$$.$$.
I have none.
If I could, oh yes I would. In several fibrillating heartbeats.
My health wobbles, too. If you are a Doctor, or not :), I have hyperthyroidism, or graves disease.
It's weirded me out (even more) as I've gotten older, happened badly when I was part-boarding & then while taking lessons. I was finally diagnosed in 1999-2000. My heart does some pretty interesting things if I feel trapped by stupidity (or I'm trying not to say something blunt). You know how easy that is in the boarding barn. I've been fine so far, physically, each time I visited my friends horses, but they are so darn far away. Hard to make time when I haven't much to start with. I couldn't do it only partly.
All or nothin' with me.
It's part of my life history, the whys and wherefores, and whynots, right now. I'm getting to it. It's the GoLightly Facts:)
Thanks really for the offer. Made me tear up a bit. I love big squishy OTTB's.
When I told my very special kindred-weird-spirit nephew, back in 1993, when I had finally put Tad Plaid down, that I wouldn't be riding for a while, he said "The horses will be sad." He was only three and a half maybe. He's been labeled ADD, but he's really justa genius. His daddy is the genius, don't think it comes from our side of the family:)
His words echoed in my head for a long time. I tried part-boarding after that, lessons, friends horses, other's horses used to "fall into my lap" through my riding years. Friends got out of riding.
ANYWAY, thanks.
I do need a horse. Trouble is my husband and family and blah blah blah is a hindrance.

Who's the horse Reiner's on? I want to say Aberali, but I'd be totally guessing. (yeah, I think that's a Kathy Kusner horse) Och, and when I press my memory for any of his horses names! Gah! Oh, Ahlerich. There's one! There were so MANY! Who was the chestnut?
I used to believe I'd never forget any of these horses names!
I've seen the picture somewhere before. I posted back on Bunny's to let her know I'd nabbed it.
Have you ever heard of Christilot Boylen? Of course you have! She's my very own Canadian dressage hero. Michael Matz, Conrad, Rodney Jenkins (OH!!) Katie, I have LOTS of H/J heroes. I learned a lot out of Practical Horseman, for a long time, until it got really too boring. Of course, I still enjoy reading George. I wish I'd kept them all. Equus is no longer available in this very horsey part of the country I don't ride in. I'm just down the road from Randy Roy, big hunter judge up here, y'know? Used to board Tad there.

Have a wonderful 2009, sir:)
Tell me, does your name come from "Sugar Junky"?
Just askin'?
:)
Is the squishyTB the one that was kicked in the face? Is he ok?
Wow, I'm so honoured, Doc.

I'm working up my nerve...
To Horses in 2009!
This is getting so bloody long, Doc! So much for the short answer. What else is new..
Sorry:(
Maybe I should just make it a new post, keep FernV from demanding GoLightly Facts again, for a MINUTE!
:)

(edited this comment to correct to the fact that Ahlerich was actually bay, and Aberali sounds wrong)

Just proves that no "new and improved" can top perfection. What a beautiful shot, and the horse looks so SOUND. So much of the extreme stuff is crippling horses. I've seen horses that are in their 20's still performing and sound, and do not remember the lameness issues that are so sadly common in today's horses. Of course, we also didn't have access to all the drugs that can keep a horse performing, either. If they were lame you rested them.

GL, sure wish you lived in my area! If you ever get to MT we are hitting the trails girl, got extra horses and *shit eatin' grin*, *OMG I am spoiled soo rotten, :)* a trailer with sleeping quarters!
Just keep looking for that window of opportunity. It will happen, and when it does grab it!
