Don't Laugh if it doesn't work..
Not done yet, I'll be back.
Crap..
Okay, anybody know how the heck you make it so the pic FITS into the blogger page??
Oh, well, it'll get ya to my pics, which I took SecondWindAcres advice, and loaded them up to the big PhotoBucket.
No peeking ahead, or behind.
Oh, okay, go look then. I will remain muted, momentarily.
VERY momentarily:)
At least I got the darned thing UP there!
Trying something else..
Ah HAH!! Success!!!!!
Kinda pretty with just his head and knees..
I want to talk about broke. BOY, do I want to talk about broke..
The word "should" be TRAINED. Trained does NOT equal DEAD. Trained does not equal broke. It's a bad word in my vocabulary. Hackctually. I KnoW what Peter said. But, that's not quite what he meant. So broke, so GooD.
GoLightly was just a dancin' fool. Training Horses to dance, is more what we ShoulD mean. Don't think for a minute that none of my horses sparkled. Good grief. TadPlaid did the BEST 180 and beyond with me, going up a hill. They should always be ready to help, and to listen. Their flights of fancy need to know when they should be expressed. But they will express! GoLightly was VerY expressive. Oh, yeah. The only show I got to go to with Lightly was so cool, from his perspective. Oh he was smart and catty in the mad house warm-up ring. But he had great fun eyeballing the pigeons, keeping an eye out for bombs, I swear!
I warned ya AofG, I did:) I am OZ, don't fergit.
Oh, this is what I want to leave you with. I wrote it when my Royal Gamble mare was 6, soo, I was 18. Probably out of the house, by then. Not in a great state of mind.
I think I wrote it to GoLightly, or vice versee.
question: where?
answer: forward.
question: why?
answer: life is forward. not backward.
question: will it take long?
answer: You are impatient, forward can always happen Let life take you quietly
Well worth the wait.
life will take you and drift you in
its current wash your ears out
its drive pound you on the back
It's beauty to twist your heart and courage your mouth.
It's lust to twist your mouth and courage your heart.
Love, for life only, but
it grows inside you
when you are completely at peace.
Going forward.
Weird, eh? Yup, I were weird..
Now, tangent of unknown destination over, let's talk broke. What is it?
Not people broke.
I got that one down, pat.
HORSE broke. As in, oh, never mind HorsPoor. What does broke do for you? How would you define broke. For me, it isn't lifeless. Depends on what they're broke for.
See I use the term a lot, but it's OLD.
Training...
Isn't Tad tres adorable?
Oohs, and ahhhs, only. Any snide comments about I'm this and that?
Hey, he'd just done a WOW did you SEE that umbrella over THERE?? We were just fine. It was rain greasy slick that day. Nasty footing. I was being super
broke.
Anyone confused?
Good:)
Back to temporarily muted, for the moment..
Great Horse, that was, Lisa Jacquin rode him. Hah! Funny how the memory works.
Oh, oh. I'm getting the "oh, woe-be-gone eyes" from two starving pooches.
Poor THINGS!!

What a sweet face he has. How would you describe that expression?
My frickin' battery..
He had the look of the great Northern Dancer, to me. But, he was weird, he had two little bones, stuck out like, to the insides of his eyes, in the centre of his face. Funny boy. Bit of steer in him maybe. Or Unicorn.
He looked for eagles, this horse.
He had such courage for his size.
His feet, well, ne'er mind. He was such fun to ride when he was sound.
Twinkly, like. Very light and sure footed was Tad. Cutie-Pie!!
He was very well-proportioned, even after he was gelded.
Okay, I am a bad BaD
Where did everybody GO?
What a beutiful eye that horse had and such a look of anticipation, love a horse that is looking so forward to where he can take you next ! Your tangents are as always lovely my friend, Broke to me is a term that has been around forever and has meant too many bad things and not enough good. Well broke should mean ,stared correctly and willing and responsive . Like people horses are always learning and growing in ability .The "broke to death" meaning has always indicated those horse that have lost the willingness to try and are just plodding through from muscle memory
where am I? I have a sinus infection which got mistaken for tooth aftereffects.
Go:
Wow, just wow. Love the pic of you and he. Where was this?
Oh crap. The assimilation is complete.
We both even used HP in our posts.
Lovely horse Go.
I confess that all four horses I have started weren't really trained. They were broke, though. Basically, I taught them to lunge a little, got them used to wearing tack, got a friend or two to go along and just hopped on and went. I thought about where to go and the horse usually went. They would cross anything after a few rides. This sounds terrible, but I tried not to ask for whoa till they were very tired. Then, they'd put it in the ground no problem. I'd put the reins on the buckle and sit there for at least 5 while they relaxed. I clucked and backed it up with long split reins, and none of those horses were lazy even in the arena. I kept my leg lightly against the horse so they weren't skittish about a person putting leg on. I wish I could learn how to really sit a horse to help them move more comfortably. I would also like to learn to train for more maneuverability. This is long. I'm going away.
PS The horses were always ready to be ridden, and they weren't scared of me.
Riding boots $250.00...Jumps $500.00...Look on your horse's face, priceless!
The minute they become bored or bitter is the minute you become a bad trainer.

Well the whole darn thing was brilliant, anyway.
AofG, don't you DARE go away. You have great sense in that head, which is what riding is all about. Sense and sensibility:)
Your horses "weren't really trained"?
By whose standards, kiddo?
You lived to get off of them didn't ya? They liked you riding them!
(shakes head)
dammit, where did this post go wrong..
Hmmm.
Maybe Horspoor's Elitism wore off on me?
(snork)
I'm sorry, though, that I deleted your pooh piles.
It's just Butch was a bit embarrassed..
And the pooh pics smelt a bit.
Ok, maybe it's my HousE
:)
AofG
You haz horse sense.
Don't let ANYone tell ya different.
If you think that's what I'm saying, I will now smite myself:)
owwwwwwwwww.
Well, Fact,I disagree a teeny bit. It can be beneficial tobore them a bit, if they are the ReallY busy type.
Bitter? Yeah, rider FAIL.
AofG, you can't sit the horse so that he can move more comfortably, until you can sit him so he's comfortable with you.
Then, he can move more comfortably because you show him how, by being light in the "tack". (aids, cues, whatever).
Chicken before egg, here.
Or somethin'.
agggghh
what is it with this darn
*giggles* That was inflatable poo. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement. Huggles and squeezles for Butch.
CCC, bonus points for not peeking.
Aurora Horse Show, baby green division.
AofG I've edited, because it sounded wrong...
I said "AofG
You haz horse sense.
Don't let ANYone tell ya different.
If you think that's what I'm saying, that if the horse isn't "trained", you haven't any horse sense, I will now smite myself:)
double OW
The horse is the judge, not the people with the sneering, jealous eyes..
huggies backz
Butch sez, spring is ALMOST here:)
Test
You sure have come across a lot of awesome looking mounts haven't you:)
I like this. A photo history of GoLightly adventures.
I just read your comment. I suppose we all inspire eachother hmm? At least we seem to be on the same page...and that's good.
what happened to the people who ride for the sake of working through things? What happend to the old school method of just riding it out? WHere did all this abuse stuff come from?
You can tell by your position in the picture, and the joy in the horses ears, the sparkle in his eye, that he liked his job and he liked you... Thats something to be proud of, fer sure
Oh, he's lovely. I adore that look on a horse over fences. I get so tired of seeing these horses in the hunter ring that are so automatic and so bored that they just galumph along with no fire to speak of. And they win like crazy because they're SO consistent and SO quiet.
Screw the quiet. I want to see a horse enjoying his job and feeling the same exhilaration I always felt over fences.
Neigh, neigh, not proud.
Proud of the horses, yeah.
Just wondering where the "look" has gone from some horses eyes, is all.
:)
Hoping we can get it back.
To My TadPlaid.
Didja notice the Blue Sock?
left Hind?
That's the only good picture I think, that I have of it.
ONE more sleep.
No, I do not find the blue sock. Going back to look again.
Wow...purdy, purdy horse. To me broke has always been the same as well trained, but then I did grow up around some master horsemen and women. I've changed terminology because most greenhorns get the wrong idea.
Hmm, well trained horses have ground manners, but they communicate their emotions to their humans freely. They understand that they have a right to their feelings, but must control their actions. Under saddle they understand cues, and also understand that if they disobey their cue there will be consequences. They do their job. They are responsible friends. There are a million ways to get there, and as long as the horse and human understand each other that IS the correct way.
Broke? Okay...this will be lovely grammar by the way.
Dead broke = kids horse. Will do it if asked, isn't going to volunteer up much more
Broke = rideable, has a decent rein on it.
I usually use trained, or well trained anymore. Broke, good broke, greenbroke still fall out of my mouth sometimes. lol
Good Broke horse = I think it and it happens. Ease of movement, quiet, supple, forward, carries itself. It is like dancing with a good partner. No one likes to dance with a dolt. Rider or horse can be the dolt by the way.
I've always like the concept of 'dancing with my horse'. I've never been big on the make them do this. Or you just need to show em who's boss kind of attitude.
I'm in about 40 years on this horse stuff now. Years ago, when I was in my teens I was watching the Merv Griffin show. He was interviewing Syd Charisse. He asked her who she liked dancing with better, Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly. She said she liked dancing with both of them. The styles were just very different.
Gene was a very physical dancer. She had a lot of fun but would often be a litte sore and have bruises. Still a good partner and great fun to dance with.
Dancing with Fred was effortless. He led without force, but were always where you were supposed to be.
So, right now, I ride more like Gene Kelly, I want to ride like Fred Astaire. Yeah, I came to this conclussion at the ripe old age of about 15 or 16. I'm still working on it.
(falls down in shock that HP comments)
(again)
HP, you didn't oooh and ahhhh.
Beheading as you leave...
You grammer wuz exsellant
Excellent!
Gator can be excused for her head. Warm salt water up the nose, sorry, it really works, betcha FernV got cleared RighT up!
Who wouldn't want to ride like Fred Astaire??
Dancing is the way.
Thanks, k:)
dratted battery thingy..
They told me the salt water nos ethingy. Thing is I still have pain that makes me shriek(mr gator has asked me to sleep int he other room till i can be quiet all night) and now Im dopey on painkillers and you can tell by my typing.
If im not better minday Im calling my doc again, but i hope i will be.
I have no diea why I never had a fever. its weird.
And just in case I pass out or something I told mr gator where to find my wallet card with all my daily perscriptions and stuff.
O know thi seems goofy but im not faking, my fingers and brian are all wobbly.
Oh my! GL, I loved your writing piece. You wrote that when you were a teenager? Amazing stuff.
I could hang the picture of that horse on my wall and look at it all day. What a beauty.
I like what Dena said, broke doesn't mean broken. I'd like if folks got away from using that word and used 'trained' or 'well-trained' or 'starting training' instead. Literally, broke can imply heavy-handed or physically/mentally forced and that's never good.
I like a horse that is well-trained, but not a machine not allowed to use his mind. I liken it to a conversation...I say something, horse gives back...I'm working on the 'I'm smart enough to hear HORSE say something' and then I give back. :)
Communication.
Little gator,
You're not on antibiotics? They say it's viral?
Man, I just got over a week long sinus thing and it's misery, so I hear 'ya sista.
Are you sleeping upright so things can drain? Use gravity to your advantage. Sleeping upright helped me avoid the vertigo and light-headedness that I always get with a sinus infection. If I laid flat the room would spin and I'd get nauseated.
Call your doc tomorrow and make sure you're resting when you can. Lots and lots of liquids to move this thing through you.
Take care.
I'm on amoxicillin, and sleeping sitting up on pillowe, and flushing with salt water. This is the 3rd day on anti-bs.
Im not oding anythign cept minimal housecleaning, mr gator is taking care of me and doing nearly everything.
We have a funeral for a frtriend tomorrow, but im staying home.
Yeah, Gator what SWA said.
Take good care of yourself, please.
Drat
Something makes this thing just decide the batt's low, grrrrreat
answers, all!
merci, tres beaucouoo
Does Butch still miss me? Does he like scritches? It's shedding time down here. I need ideas for a hair sculpture.
AofG
Of CoursE Butch misses you.
If I scritch him, he might fall apart though. He's kinda frail..
Maybe you could send your spare hair this way?
Butch's coat is a little um, thin.
Maybe put all the hair into a pillow-case, and scrunch it down, for a pillow?
Very sweet smelling pillow?
:)
I can tell BUtch had his fur loved off.
NCC, sorry, you did ask me
"What a sweet face he has. How would you describe that expression?"
Let's DO it!! Where to next?
Oh, this is FUN:) ForWARD, go!
Takes me awhile..
4sure
where did the new post about the clinic go?
Hey, Fern, go to BED!!

I was testing stuff....
Not quite done with it yet, I'm still such a HTML dweebie.
