Y'all who've read me for awhile have heard me loathe my neighbour. I know, being the nice, conciliatory person I am, you'd think I could get along with my neighbour. This "person", using the term loosely, has been a psycho since she'd moved into the illegal cabin next door, for the summer, twenty+ years ago. My landlord was Just here, looking for her, she never pays her rent, never returns calls. I HatE her. Y'all know that. She hATes me. And I tried for many years to make this not a sad fact. But it is.
GUESS what. The worst, the absolute worst has happened. Deeeep breath.
She has moved a TB Stallion into her garage. A stable whose name I know pretty well, dropped off the horse yesterday afternoon, but I didn't see him until today.
I didn't know about him until today. Took my dogs for a walk, happened to glance at the garage, with HOOF prints leading up to the door... Couldn't go in and touch him, door is of course locked. And of course, he is her private property. I could be charged if I go in and see him. She'd call the police so fast..
sigh.
fcuk.
I phoned the stable owner immediately, and gave her an earful. She's asked me not to mention her, as I warned her that her reputation will fly right out the window, if this gets out.
Guess what Two. Neighbour from hell wants to breed her mare, kept elsewhere. Told stable owner that she's going to breed her new stallion to her mare. Why stallion can't go to where mare is, is obvious to me. Mare is probably living in a couple of fifty gallon drums somewhere. I told ya about the lambs she kept in milk-crates? yeah.
I guess I have to sleuth this out. Seems to me Neighbour did not want stable owner to see where mare was. No kidding. Stable Owner tells me the horse was saved from the knacker.
And you WONDER why I'd rather they were put down??
THIS PSYCHO thing COULD OWN YOUR HORSE.
Oh, CRAP, I have to go outside and breathe. What a beautiful day, wasted, a horse is on my property, not owned by me, shut in a garage, like ALL of her animals, for 24/7. Neighbour told stable owner that she had paddocks. Liar. Said she'd build paddocks, and ride/longe him every day, and breed him to her mare. The only place she could build a paddock, is on another property. NOT this one. I know, you're thinking, hey, it could be great! No, it couldn't. This person is who I based my nutbar in my fiction on. She bad. Born to be bad.
Bad to the Bone.
Stable Owner SO has promised to check on TB Stallion, dark bay, about 16.1, a little thin (because he's been breeding?? according to SO). Fcuking right. If she doesn't, well, you'll ALL get to find out who she is!!
Frying pan to fire. Poor bugger. He looks absolutely adorable.
AAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
sorry. I will go shoot myself now.
and e-mail my landlord.
and cry.
I need a shower again.
scrub off my anger.
grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Update:
April 4th, and he's cribbing. He's been in that garage since Thursday.

Oh for Pete's sake... who ever Pete is...
In a fricking garage? Any 16.1 horse... hell any horse? I don't even care he has balls, he couldn't help that. Even more unfortunately he can't help he's in a garage. Isn't that illegal? I mean seriously? Can't animal control get involved here? I mean... at least the landlord can do SOMETHING right? Why doesn't he/she evict this psycho?
Oh, poor GL. I understand the frustration. My grandfather's horses need/deserve better but I can't afford to do more... nor can I afford to get heavily involved with him and horses b/c of a lot of family history ... ick... I'll just say I truly get shitty situations where you feel helpless to help the helpless. Do what you can for him, which I know you will. :/ Poor stallion.
Oh, it's a TWO-car garage, AB. Lots of room. Probably 12'x 12'. Hell.... She led him in through the people door, not the front double-garage hinged door. I took pictures:(
Where IS his turnout? Oh, right.
none.
agggghhhhhhhhhh.
I had JUST been thinking, "Well, isn't it nice, no animals in PsychoNeighbour's possession, in my face.
You'd think my brain would KNOW better, by now.
every SINGLE time.
gawd....
Great to see ya, AB!
Good Lord! That is just insane. My pony stallion doesn't belong in a garage and I am pretty sure a 16.1 TB stallion doesn't either.
I hope AC can do something. Maybe if they are called in via the police department?
You could call them as a concerned neighbor... You heard a big crashing noise in the garage and hope she's ok. Knocking on the door got no response, please come quickly, her life (your sanity & the horses!) depends on it.
Maybe she could get hauled off and some mental help out of the deal.
Not to mention another freakin'horse for company.
oh, heavens, this is sent to test me. Could you please move this test to some other day than today?
First day off in ages. Sunny lovely day. I know that horse is still in that garage. Hey, it's not a bad garage. I've often dreamed of what this place could be, for horses. But I do silly things like pay my rent, so I don't...
shriek.
I still say call the cops. An innocent third party walking the dog did it, for all they know...
If the cops call in AC, they seem to have more influential pull. At this point, it sounds like you and the horse need all the help you can get.
Oh heavens... the stall is just a bunch of plywood... you didn't have that pic up before.
He's so cute. I like CnJ's suggestion.
I mean, seriously what does the landlord say? Horses are a liability... remind him/her it could him them in the purse (harder than the woman never paying rent does).
Icky poo.
I waffled on posting the pics, I did. I need to document this. IckyPoo is home now, horse hasn't seen the outside yet. There is no screens in the windows behind him. No air movement in that garage at all, except the ripped screen of the people door that I peered through to get the shot.
She'd have to open the big door., but it looks not much like a barrier there, does it.
gahhhh.
It's a holiday, today, in Toronto, so since he is in no immediate danger, not much I can do.
The cops do know this lady, CNJ. She's called them on us before. Several times.
One of the more memorable, she called them on a Monday at 7am, because she thought we'd turned her water off. She has the power controls for the water in her "warehouse".
We'd had a BIG thunder storm the night before... Breaker had broke. She was warned that she was causing public mischief.
yeah, no kidding.....
Both she and BF, (now gone) Drunk, yelling at us, they were gonna kill us.
She's .....
sigh.
words fail me.
fcikifckik.
Hmmm, BarnOwner has called, didn't leave a message. I would have answered. I've sent her an e-mail, trying to explain why I "went off" on her.
Silver Linings, people, please, silver linings!
IckyPoo went in the house, came back out at 7pm, unloaded the hay, truck running, in front of the open garage door (fumes, here ya go, horsie)
and left again.
Horse didn't see the outside world, and as a bonus, got some exhaust fumes trapped in there..
e-mail to Landlord sent.
Fingers crossing for help/hope.
Inspiration.
Yeaaa...That c.a.n.'t be legal...Can it?
Oh good Lord, GL. WTF is wrong with this moron?
Poor horses, poor GL.
OMG!! WTF!! Our dinky little arab mare came from a situation like that--stall in half the garage, crappy fence(note, she did have a paddock), note--dinky arab mare. Not 16hh Thoroughbred. I truly think SO needs to have her head examined for not even trying to see where this boy was going--WHAT was her problem??????
My place is too remote for the phone call, CNJ.
It will be very obvious who called.
I've e-mailed the landlord and the StableOwner.
and I'm trying not to let my blood pressure skyrocket.
Happy, happy place!
Poor bugger was looking wistfully out his window this morning.
No screens in the windows...
It's going to be hot today.
fcik, fcik.
fcuk.
Keep thinking "This is temporary" and "this will be resolved." It will. He will be okay in that situation for the short term, and this may just take care of the neighbor for good.
With all of us thinking those thoughts, it could happen.
Good luck, GL.
Holy crap GL. that has to be frustrating beyond belief... and the stable owner won't do anything??
OSPCA is on the WAY!!
Keep your fingers crossed.
Okay, I've heard back from the seller, she called NutBar, who said the horse went for a walk, and seemed very happy. She walked him about 100 yards or so:(
Seller says that if the horse doesn't look good after a week, she'll offer to buy him back, or report NutBar.
OSPCA has left a note on her door, saying as temporary housing, fine, but the horse cannot stay here long term.
No word from landlord, natch...
I would LOVE to know where the mare is. So would the OSPCA. Nice guy, did a great job of calming me down.
As I told him on the phone, the horse is not in distress, at this point, but it's obvious the horse cannot stay there.
I will hear about this from NutBar.
Oh, WELL.
wish me luck!
GL- didn't anyone notice the nutbar had no place to put this guy when they dropped him off? Like the absence of a freakin BARN would have tipped me off.
GL- I am seriously thinking good thoughts for you and the horse.
*waves* to Allmightymarshmellow. Good to see ya!
I like blueherons idea. Count me in.
goL, that is so awful! This is frustrating for all of us and there you are, right next door to that poor horse.
In a garage! Good god.
