Okay, guys, I never do this..
But please, go to this site, and sign the petition. It's getting crazier out there. The now-disgraced Tim Trow of the THS kept Bandit alive, after the dog put 200 stitches into a child's face, and refused the owner's request to have the dog euthed.
BUT, Brampton AC can stalk these two dogs, and determine they should die, because of how they look. These dogs have harmed no-one, and are beloved PETS.
Sign the Petition!!
My dogs could be next, or yours. Stay out of Brampton, people with good dogs.
This is a joke. Right?? Right? Sorry if you've already seen it. I justabout, well, it wasn't pretty.
Scream Worthy. Outrage worthy. Fear and Loathing, Shocked and Appalled worthy.
I thought it couldn't get any worse. Could that mare's coat be any stark starier????????
aggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It must be a joke, right?
Please, tell me this was a joke.
Please?

OMG! Had a dog attacked one of my girls, 200 stitches more or less? There would be no need for the Humane Society to be involved.
The police? Whole 'nother story...
Does Canadian citizenship matter on the petition? Just curious. Citizenship and voter registration matters here on some petitions. Is why I ask.
Excellent question, I have no idea. They probably wouldn't listen anywho. It's bizarre out there. I think any outcry is better than none. I usually don't do this, but this idea scares the bejeebers out of me.
IF an AC person decides your dog "looks" dangerous??
Hello?? They can come to your house, and take your dog?
I mean, have the AC people have nothing better to do out there?
too many haves, not enough fingers:)
Okay, brains.
Signed and this is my attached note
"I hardly think a 75 yr old woman is in posession of a dangerous animal ! There are far too many assumtions being made here and really is this the best AC can do? Maybe direct the focus more towards actual infractions like animals being starved or mishandled rather than a Breed/type specific predjudice!"
I hope it helps .
CNJ, there are signatures from the UK so citezenship seems not to be an issue
Signed, sealed and delivered.
Just say NO to breed banning and spay and neuter laws.
OT, sorry, I missed CCC's comment:
Wow, that is a whole lotta grape there. What size blanket does Spooky wear?
Spooky needs speshul blankets. They are modified size 86, with a longer drop and a curvy topline. And a big neck opening. I like purple. Heh. I found a really good blanket maker nearby whose custom blankets cost about the same as Weatherbeeta or Rambo. Score!
I thought Spooky looked like a blueberry, myself:)
My eyes, though...
GL,
Signing away. Totally fcuked ideas going on.
S&B,
I am going to have CNJ make a new blanket for Buck, my Perch. The blanket he came to me with is too short in every way. Incidentally, it is purple with green trim, but Buck is jealous, he doesn't have a neck thingy like Spooky does.
*Head desk* I just had to watch the video and my eyes are bleeding...Off to sign petition...
OMG....where did you find that video. My eyes are PUKING. I was unaware the soles of horses feet had no feeling. Or the harder I brushed my horse the more they liked it, and I'd want to pull really hard to pull when brushing to thin out the tail to make it easier to brush.
Loved her riding too. OMG. If that is an expert I am on my way to the Olympics, they are begging me to come. Loved the pelham with the western synthetic saddle.
Do you think those two horses near the end, after her big trot experience kicked the crap out of each other?
The photo must not do the colour justice GL. Purple, not subtle in any way ;) Matches her purple glitter shipping wraps.
CCC, Spooky needed a neck hood...I roached her mane AND clipped her! Naked! She looks so pretty roached though.
The hood fits a lot snugger than some other brands, but Spooky likes it.
Looks like the speaker on that video used her own technics for herself as far as grooming goes. I could not watch any further.
Oh
My
Lord.
I saw this vid on the Bad riding page. Didn't watch it.
NICE PELHAM. IDIOT.
ALso, did anyone notice the horse was TIED when she initially mounted, as she nicely demonstrated how to TURN and how to hold the reins? WHich really, is NOT how we turn or hold reins?
I feel so sad for those horses.
That whole video was multiple examples of what not to do. I didn't really see anything correct. Okay, her dismount wasn't terrible. But yeesh...it is a good thing horses are by nature forgiving creatures.
CCC- noted in my mind in nowhere else. Neck hood too???
I will be signing as well then. No need for any dog like that to be on the planet. I don't care in which country.
(smacks CNJ with FV iron)
ahem, the Tim Trow dog is not the reason you're signing, goopy..
I wonder what's going on with that pathetic creature? Bandit, that is. The dog that likes to bite.
Brittany and Rambo are on DeathRow, through NO FAULT of their own. Except they "look" like pits. Boxer mixes, yeah. If I fattened Flip up enough, or Blaze, they'd "look" like pits. Go after the owners, not the dogs, people!
That's what you are signing the petition for. Good dogs,do not need "stalked" and destroyed.
AFAIK, THS/Tim Trow was awaiting trial, no idea where Bandit ended up. Probably still in a cage...
I knew I shouldn'ta mentioned Bandit..
danged tangents..
See I like the colour blueberry.
Like the Real Blueberry.
Deeep blue, which to me, is purple.
My eyes are weird, though.
Purple is such a cool word, though.
Oh, never mind, SB, you and ND can go over to the purple corner:)
I thought the mounting method of Malibu Bimbette was truly the crowning achievement, until she made the poor stringy old thing rear.
SO, it was NOT a joke.
Dear, dear Gawd.
Horses are saints, aren't they?
Malibu.
Hmmm, isn't that on the left coast??
(runs/hides)
Yes it is on the left coast. But you really can't compare the southern coast to the northern coast. Trust me on this. lol
You can't compare the people of Malibu to the people of McKinleyville. Very different value structures, and focus.
It would be like comparing Bangor Maine to New York City.
S&B,
I would like to see a pic of Spooky with the roached mane. Buck might be a candidate for that.
I can understand the reason for the neck hood up your way, but totally not needed here. I don't even blanket that often (except for this winter.)
However, Buck is a very large priss and thinks he needs a wardrobe that reflects his status and a neck hood would be just the thing.
CNJ, no, there will be no neck hoodie for Mr. Buck, it just isn't cold enough here.
I need to get back with you about the fly mask though. Will email you this weekend.
Thanks for the mission CCC...I need to try to stay awake for at least four more hours. I was up all night driving Beamer to the vet down south. Someone got himself into a nasty pickle. Fortunately for Beamer, I overreacted severely when describing the damage so the vet told me to bring him down ASAP. Beamer will most likely be A-OK, minor scrapes and observation for a few days at the vet's farm to be certain. After 36 hours of consecutive wake-itutde I am not allowed to go to work though. And it is VACATION! WTH can't pets be dependents?! (j/k)
So! Roachy pics! In the daylight! Forthcoming. Next is laundry or manure scooping. Hmm. Decisions.
TMI. I know. 5 Red Bulls and considerable relief have made me want to share joy with the world. Yep. FIVE.
Gorgeous
Other side
Note, "using myself properly" muscles forming
Hey! My mane is nice too!
Spooky in the poplars
She looks gorgeous that way, SB!
All drafties with wiiiide crests should have their manes roached.
Otherwise, you spend all your time trying to make it lie flat, and it never EveR will:)
OH, jeepers. I'm glad Beamer's okay:(
FIVE Red Bulls??
Wow, that's scary, careful of your heart, SB!
Oh, well, you're young.
My puppy kept me up until 2am, and I do not drink any caffeinated substances anymore.
(props up eye-lids.)
S&B, Hope Beamer is OK! My Annie pulled a "flight of Lunacy" yesterday maybe a sign of spring?
GL- Put the FV iron down, would ya?
I know I'm signing to save the two dogs. There should also be no reason to sign one to remove the other one from the planet. It should have long since been done! I'm on your side, remember?
Hope the horse is ok, the owner can get some sleep and everythign turns out for the best.
On the same lighter note- Phaedra, the horse was loaded back on the trailer this morning and should be in your area Sunday or Monday, barring any further complications.
He was welcome to stay here if the need arose. I don't think C3D can take any more. Her craziness meter has topped out with this one.
Beamer is doing good. He can come home tomorrow! Except that I am not bringing him home, he is going to a boarding place with padded walls until he sells!
(He's for sale. You can see why in the sale ad videos. Amazons do not belong on Arabians.)
He a sweetie pie, someone (a shorter someone) is going to really enjoy him! I hung on to him this long, I think, in the vain hope that I would shrink and he would grow. Neither happened :(
what?
keeping a dog going who's bitten someone who req'd that many stitches? Next time the attack could be fatal. No excuses to keep this dog alive.. None. They should humanely euth it.
the video was both hilarious and scary. There was so much unsafe groundwork going on there. That bay horse was a saint, by the way. Rearing up when the JRT came along, just the right touch for drama.
To me it seemed like you where saying that all dressage riders were stuck up and couldn't do other disaplines so they switched to dressage. You probably meant it in a different way, and i'm sorry that I went off on you like I did regardless of your intent. That was wrong of me. Could you explain more clearly what you meant?
Och, Hi Paigley, no, I'm sorry, I type a lot of "tongue in cheek".
Sort of like I'm half-kidding:)
I've met many types of people in the horse world, and was simply venting about a few videos I'd watched, where the rider really should have been posting, for the horse's sake.
I appreciate your comment, it gave me the inspiration for my next rant, I mean, post:)
I meant, horse-people tend to get too specific, and that narrows our perceptions & reception to different types of riding and training.
Generally speaking, that's what I've noticed.
(oooops)
I finally saw a reasonable thread on rollkur, on COTH!
Several actually watched Anky's video, talking and training
her horses, and voila, maybe she isn't abusing them!
If I really got thinking, I wouldn't post at all. I'm afraid streams of consciousness is the only way I can type:)
Cute horse, and I'm glad Trex could help you! About time she started posting again:)
Congrats to kestrel, Grandest Broodie!
To Open Minds, and Kind Hearts.
S&B,
Thanks for the pictures.
Spookey does look really good with the roach and Zora is just too cute no matter what.
Did you use body clippers to do it or just regular ones?
I am glad Beamer is doing well. Sounds like a hell of a time you have had the last few days!
GL- I have to say, JR and I are diggin that picture at the top of your blog. Great photo!
And where you said horse people are too specific, BINGO! You win babe! That's what I have issue with as well. Where I commented on another blog about not liking half halts or being a fan of them and I was told Big name rider does it!!
My feelings on that were who the f%ck cares? If one person does it, we all should? No reason to seek out any other way? Maybe one that is a bit easier for the horse and rider? In reining there is a method of stopping the horse called 'fencing' where they run the horse into the fence. Think I'm a fan of that either? Think there is a better way? Sure, but if we are all stuck to believing there is only one way to do things- nothing may ever improve.
oh okay i understand now. yes i do tend to agree with that.Cross-training is fun and good for the horse.
I tend to catch grief for not 'specializing' not just sticking to one discipline. The, "Do you know how good you could be or how far you could go if you'd just focus on one." Yeah, well my brain doesn't work that way.
If I want to chase cows today, and ride dressage tomorrow, that's what I'm going to do. I have however come to the conclussion that my horses may not all be suited to the different games I want to play.
Yes, all horses can do dressage, however that doesn't mean they are a 'dressage horses'. Yup, I could take Top the WB and run around the barrels. This is not going to make him a barrel horse. Seriously, the only way Top could get in the ground around a barrel is if he fell over.
So, yes all my horses can do different things, but they aren't going to excel at all of them. Limitations of conformation and mind. Different body types, different brains are suited to different jobs.
Sorry for the semi rant. Paigeley's comment struck a nerve that has been recently poked. Got 'the lecture' again on Wed at lunch. lol
CNJ,
I totally agree.
I have seen too many people try to teach flying changes by running the horse into the corner of an arena and asking for it that way. It is no wonder that so many horses/ponies have issures with it.
After seeing that done too many times, I made sure to work with Whinnie a different way. I taught her to do them working up the diagonal of a field, no corners allowed.
What? You mean you don't fence horses to teach them to change leads? (Joke, sarcasm here).
I see that method, and the knock them off balance to get them to change. It works to a degree, but they usually end up just changing in the front, and then hurry and hop into the correct from behind. You'll see horses not being able to change straight. They swing too much from side to side. Instead of grabbing the lead from behind and changing.
I like half halts - not on the reins the way some interpret it... but a very subtle half halt using your seat.
That video... OMG. Those Arabians were truly all saints. And I was yelling HANDS DOWN!! at the computer. The expert's riding was a disaster and that nice little frustrated rear was just the cherry on the sundae.
Somehow I believe her when she said she has been kicked over a thousand times...
Ick.
And petition signed... :-)
